Abstract: An employee handbook for the Tule Lake incarceration center and a map of the center. Tule Lake was a facility in northern California where the U.S. government incarcerated Japanese Americans during World War II.

Allen and Lewis records, 1853-1931

Abstract: Records of a mercantile firm in Portland, Oregon, that was founded by Cicero Hunt Lewis and Lucius H. Allen. The records date mainly from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and include financial ledgers, business correspondence, real estate and land records, contracts, stock certificates, and materials relating to the widening of West Burnside Street in downtown Portland, due to construction of the Burnside Bridge. The collection also includes papers relating to George Good.

Mike Houck papers, 1903-2023

Abstract: Papers of Mike Houck, an environmentalist from Portland, Oregon. The collection includes records and documents relating to the management and conservation of urban greenspaces in the Portland area, speeches and publications by Houck, materials relating to the adoption of the great blue heron as Portland's city bird, and materials relating to a symposium, "Olmsted Landscape Legacy 1903-2003."

Abstract: Collection of papers related to transportation in all forms, focusing primarily on Oregon and the northwestern United States. Inlcudes manuscripts, ephemera, clippings, and other materials relating to ships, railroads, automobiles, highways, aeronautics, bicycles, and other modes of transport. The collection was created by the Oregon Historical Society with materials drawn from a variety of sources.

Abstract: Collection includes a typescript carbon copy document titled "Yacolt Fire, Clark County, Washington, 1902," containing an interview with Herbert Straub of Eugene, Oregon, and the press record of the fire; and a typescript carbon copy document titled "Mima Prairie Notes," with maps of a proposed ship canal from the Columbia River to Puget Sound.

Elizabeth B. Landis research notes on the Kilchis River Valley, circa 1950-1988

Abstract: Elizabeth Landis (born 1908) was the granddaughter of pioneer Warren N. Vaughn, who settled in the Kilchis River Valley in 1853, and the great-granddaughter of Jacob S. Elliot, a homesteader of 1862. Collection includes "History of Kilchis River Valley" by Landis, along with maps, photographs and other illustrations, and a bibliography. Also included is a handwritten copy of a song, "Oregon," written by Vaughn, 1880.
