Borthwick and Saunders Family papers, 1859-1948

Abstract: Alexander E. Borthwick was a Civil War veteran, railroad engineer and government servant who came to Portland in 1869. His son, William L. Borthwick, was a civil engineer and a Klansman. The collection includes correspondence, diaries, ledgers, photographs of the Borthwick family as wells as diaries and correspondence of the Saunders family who were related by marriage to William L. Borthwick.

Randall V. Mills papers, 1937-1976

Abstract: Randall Vause Mills joined the University of Oregon English faculty in 1938. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Mills wrote two books and numerous articles on transportation in the Pacific Northwest. He also wrote articles on bridge construction and location. In addition, Mills was interested in folklore, and was the founder and first president of the Oregon Folklore Society. The collection largely consists of correspondence, manuscripts, research material and notecards, printed material, photographs, and scrapbooks pertaining to transportation in the Pacific Northwest and folklore.

Orrin Stanley papers, 1862-1925

Abstract: Orrin Stanley (1872-1969) was a construction engineer for the Chicago and Northwestern Railway, 1900-1907, and engineer for the city of Portland, Oregon, from 1912. Collection contains letters and blueprints from Stanley's career.
