Abstract: The William H. Bowers papers (1875-1979) contain materials relating to William H. Bowers (1841-1892), a man well known in the mining and metallurgic circles of the last half of the nineteenth century. The bulk of the collection consists of bids, contracts, and agreements.
Harold F. Silver papers, 1941-1998

Abstract: The Harold F. Silver papers (1941-1998) contains financial records of the Silver Corporation, requests for charitable contributions, documents relating to the sale of sugar processing machinery patents to American Factors Associates, and drawings of a continuous coal mining machine designed by Silver and built by Silver Engineering Works (1941-1946). Silver was a Utah and Colorado inventor, businessman, philanthropist and civic leader. He invented the continuous coal miner, a non-flammable dry cleaning process, and various machines for processing sugar beets.

Abstract: The Philo T. and Elma G. Farnsworth papers (1924-1992) contains biographical material, financial records, news clippings, speeches, journals, article reprints, patents, research notes, workbooks, daily activity notes, photographs, personal and professional correspondence, and awards. Philo Taylor Farnsworth (1906-1971) was a researcher, writer, and a pioneering developer of television, radar technology, peacetime applications of nuclear fusion, and the infant incubator. The last section of material in this collection contains the selected papers of his wife, Elma G. (Pem) Farnsworth (1908-2006). It includes biographical information, correspondence, notes, and the media-related articles from 1972 to 1992. Completing this section is her biography of her husband, Distant Vision: Romance and Discovery on an Invisible Frontier .
