Science Research Institute Records, 1942-1964

Abstract: The Science Research Institute was established at Oregon State College in 1952 to "preserve and encourage the individual initiative of productive research in the science faculty, to intensify research activities, to encourage research grants, and to promote teamwork in research among the staff members in the different fields of science." These records document the activities of the institute and the research activities of institute director Vernon Cheldelin.

Abstract: The Biochemistry and Biophysics Department Records document research in biochemistry conducted at Oregon State University, graduate programs, the administration of the department, and the activities of faculty, especially Vernon H. Cheldelin and Robert W. Newburgh. The Biochemistry and Biophysics Department was established in 1967, but major research programs in biochemical research began in the early 1950s through the Science Research Institute.

Chih H. Wang Papers, 1947-1984

Abstract: The Chih H. Wang Papers are composed of materials created and assembled by Wang as a faculty member of the Oregon State University Chemistry Department, Director of the OSU Radiation Center, and Head of the Institute of Nuclear Science and Engineering. Materials include professional correspondence, OSU Chemistry Department and Radiation Center research records, workshop, conference, and training program files, OSU administrative records, publications by Wang, and subject files related to chemistry, nuclear science, and nuclear power policy and legislation. The Wang Papers document Wang's career, the founding and development of the OSU Radiation Center, and the growth of nuclear science research and training during the 1960s and 1970s.

Abstract: The Patent Committee Records document the development and management of patent policy for Oregon State University and include correspondence, reference materials, committee minutes, documents about specific inventions and patent investigations, reports, and patents and patent applications. The Patent Committee was established at Oregon State College in the late 1940s.
