Harold M. Brown photographs, circa 1909-1956

Abstract: Collection consists of photographs taken by Harold M. Brown, a commercial photographer in Oregon and Washington, from approximately 1909 to 1956. Subjects include photographs of the lumber and shipping industries in northwestern Oregon, views of various locations in Oregon and Washington, including ranches and agriculture, and portraits of Brown and other people. The collection also includes photocopies of three of Harold M. Brown's photography ledgers, dating from 1922 to 1956 which include details about dates and locations for numbered Brown prints.

June D. Drake photographs, 1860-1955

Abstract: This collection consists of photographs taken by June D. Drake and the Drake Bros. Studio. They primarily document the town of Silverton, Oregon, and surrounding areas from approximately 1900-1955. Includes portraits of townspeople and views of businesses, streets, organizations, and homes in Silverton and vicinity, as well as Mount Angel and Salem, Oregon, and photographs of agriculture, the lumber industry, and transportation, among many other subjects. Of special interest are Drake's photos of the area now known as Silver Falls State Park, which he helped to establish.

Gifford photographs collection, circa 1890-1947

Abstract: This collection primarily contains photographs taken by Benjamin A. Gifford, who worked both in Portland and The Dalles, Or. from 1890-1920, both as a solo photographer and in partnerships with Herbert Hale as Gifford & Hale and with Arthur M. Prentiss as Gifford & Prentiss. The collection also contains photographs taken by Benjamin's son, Ralph I. Gifford, who began work in his father's studio and later was a photographer for the Oregon State Highway Commission until his death in 1947.
