Abstract: This collection primarily contains photographs taken by Benjamin A. Gifford, who worked both in Portland and The Dalles, Or. from 1890-1920, both as a solo photographer and in partnerships with Herbert Hale as Gifford & Hale and with Arthur M. Prentiss as Gifford & Prentiss. The collection also contains photographs taken by Benjamin's son, Ralph I. Gifford, who began work in his father's studio and later was a photographer for the Oregon State Highway Commission until his death in 1947.
