Biographical Note
Alfred Shemanski was a prominent businessman and philanthropist is Seattle, Washington. He was born in Poland in 1875. He came to Seattle in 1900 and established a clothing store which became the Eastern Outfitting Company. He was one of the founders of the Community Chest of Seattle and served on the University of Washington's Board of Regents for 13 years. In 1953, with his wife Tillie, he set up a trust called the Alfred and Tillie Shemanski Fund for charitable purposes. Alfred Shemanski died in 1966.

Includes photographs of Alfred Shemanski and his family, friends and prominent members of the Seattle Jewish community. It also includes views of the Eastern Outfitting Company and an album of photographs of a testimonial dinner in honor of Alfred Shemanski given by the Northwest Region of the National Conference on Christians and Jews.
