Content Description

Small collection of materials relating to Reverend P. S. Knight. A portion of the collection consists of papers, primarily meeting minutes, related to Knight's role at the First Congregational Church in Oregon City. These include an 1879 handwritten copy of minutes taken at a meeting on March 14, 1866, concerning Knight's ordination and installation as pastor of the church, as well as a 1911 typescript statement by the church clerk, certifying that Knight had been ordained on the day the minutes were taken. Also included are two handwritten copies, one possibly original and one made in 1879, of minutes taken on June 18, 1869, at a meeting of a church council, which granted a request from Knight to dissolve his pastoral relationship with the Oregon City church; and handwritten minutes from a church meeting on July 2, 1869, at which Knight was granted a letter of dismissal. The remainder of the collection consists of a typescript copy of an address Knight delivered before the Oregon Pioneer Association in 1898.
