Historical Note
Cable 8 Productions is the student-run television station at Washington State University, under the umbrella of the Edward R. Murrow College of Communications. A registered campus student organization, Cable 8 Productions was created in 1986 by Professor W. Neal Robinson to allow students to gain experience at all levels of the creative process, including show design, producing, directing, hosting, camera work, and promotion. The first two programs offered by Cable 8 Productions were Live at 8 and Video Underground, both of which can be found in this collection.
Content Description
The collection consists of U-matic tapes containing student-created television programming from Washington State University's Cable 8 Productions, spanning the period from Spring 1989-Spring 1997. By far the most extensive set of programs within the collection is Video Underground, a music review show still actively produced by Cable 8 Productions as of 2016. The series are organized alphabetically by show title, but are listed by genres here.

Arrangement
The collection is organized alphabetically by show title, and then chronologically by season and episode number within each show. Individual pilots and specials are at the end of the collection.
Custodial History
Materials were received at the WSU Libraries sometime between 1997 and 2008.
Acquisition Information
The tapes were transferred from the Libraries to MASC in March of 2016 and accessioned as UA2016-06.
Processing Note
The collection was processed by WSU History Master’s student Calen Rau in March of 2016.
