Historical Note

James L. Collins was a Western author, writing initially under the pen name, Jim Miller. A Colorado resident, in 1982 he signed a contract with Fawcett Gold Medal Books to write six original paperback Colt Revolver Novels. Collins also wrote, "The Western Writer's Handbook" (1987), a series of four Western novels in the Long Guns Series, and several American West history books.

Content Description

The James L. Collins collection contains manuscripts for the following Western novels: "Sunsets" (1983), "Gone to Texas" (1984), "Comanche Trail" (1984), "War Clouds" (1984), and "Riding Shotgun" (1985). Two of the manuscripts have first person and third person versions: "War Clouds" and "Gone to Texas".
