Biographical Note
Gladys Irene Evensen was born on July 1, 1912 in Sheyenne, North Dakota. She earned her degree in education at St. Olaf College in Minnesota before returning to North Dakota to teach. On June 9, 1937 Gladys married Karl J. Ostrom. The couple later moved to Montana, settling in Florence in 1954. From 1956 until her retirement in 1975, Gladys worked as a teacher and librarian for the Florence School District. She died on September 21, 1991.

The Gladys Ostrom Collection of Ravalli County Photographs contains 46 print and copy negatives of Florence, Montana and the surrounding area. The photos were taken between the 1890s and the 1960s. Highlights include school buildings and activities and other Florence, Montana businesses. The original photographer(s) is unknown.
