Biographical Note
Dr. Friedman, born 1893 in Seattle, was one of the first Jewish young men born in Seattle to go back East, study medicine, and return to Seattle to practice. He was an internist with a specialty in cardiology.

Tape-recorded interview by Meta Kaplan and Karyl Winn, Feb. 3, 1972, with transcript.
Dr. Friedman, born 1893 in Seattle, discusses his family's early days in Seattle in the 1890's after an attempt at farming near Devils Lake (see Sarah Siegel interview). He discusses the general merchandising and later the clothing business his father and brother Julius ran. He discusses his schooling and his career as a physician in Seattle as well as other Jewish physicians in the city. He was one of the first Jewish young men born in Seattle to go back East, study medicine, and return to Seattle to practice. He is an internist with a specialty in cardiology.
