Over the next century, the company grew and by the 1960s maintained chemical plants in the United States, Western Europe, Mexico, and South America. In 1957, the company was renamed to Pennsalt Chemicals Corporation. In 1969, Pennsalt absorbed the pharmaceutical manufacturer Wallace and Tiernan, Inc. and officially changed its name to what it is known by today: Pennwalt Corporation.
