Content Description
Several documentary photographs of early ski lift machinery. Richard Bird has been employed by the U.S. Forest Service since the 1960s as an inspector of all ski lifts in operation on Forest Service Land.

Description: Early ski lift machinery
- Photograph number 1-6: Taken in February, 1963 at Pine Basin Ski Area, Targhee National Forest. Shows pulleys and counter weight systems.
- Photograph number 7-12: Taken in February, 1963 at Skyline Ski Area, Caribou National Forest. Shows pulleys, and skiers using rope tow.
- Photograph number 13-27: Unknown location. Shows close-ups of pulleys, mounts, and drive (off truck transmission).
