Historical Note

Lowell Wakefield was born in 1909; he died in 1977. He founded in 1946, and was president of, Wakefield Seafoods, Inc. As an expert on the fishing industry, he was an active member of national fisheries committees and organizations, including United Nations Third Conference on the Law of the Sea, 1972-1975; United Nations Peaceful Uses of the Seabed Committee, 1972-1974; Alaska Environmental Advisory Board; and the International North Pacific Fisheries.
