Historical Note
Paul Eliot Green (1894-1981) was a playwright known for inventing the symphonic drama. A symphonic drama is unique for its combination of plays with historical themes, music, pageantry, and usual outdoor setting. Green won a Pulitzer Prize in 1927 for his play “In Abraham’s Bosom.” His symphonic dramas often drew from American Revolutionary history.

Collection contains brochures, advertising outdoor dramas by Green and other playwrights, including “The Book of Job,” “The Common Glory,” “The Confederacy,” “Cross and Sword,” “The Founders,” “Home is the Hunter,” “The Lost Colony,” “The Stephen Foster Story,” and “Texas.
