Biographical Note

Dr. Constance Speth began her career at Central Washington University as a student, earning her B.Ed. in Art Education in 1955. In 1963, she returned to Central Washington University (called Central Washington State College at the time) as a graduate assistant and earned her M.Ed. degree with a thesis in painting. Constance then accepted a tenure track position in the CWSC Art Department where she taught drawing and a variety of other studio and non-studio courses for approximately 30 years.

Dr. Constance Speth chaired the Art Department for the final five years of her tenure at Central Washington University. She retired as Emeritus Professor of Art in 1995. Her artwork was exhibited in juried and invitational shows throughout the United States for over 60 years. Dr. Constance Speth passed away on September 14th, 2019.
