Historical Note

Joseph H. Peck was born in Breckenridge, Missouri, on 11 August 1885 to Joseph R. and Elizabeth C. Peck. He received his medical education from Ensworth Medical College and St. Mark's hospital in 1913 and 1915. He practiced in Gunnison, then Wendover, and after serving in World War I, he settled in Tooele, Utah, until his retirement. After retirement, Peck and his wife moved to California where he became a writer.

The Joseph H. Peck papers (1918-1980) consist of correspondence, speeches, articles, and book reviews surrounding Joseph Peck, a medical doctor from Missouri, who spent most of his life in Utah practicing medicine. The writings by Peck provide insight into medical practices in western Utah in the early twentieth century.
