Biographical Note

Margaret Louise Smith was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho, October 7, 1911, but spent her early childhood in Salt Lake City, then moved to a farm in Burley, Idaho. She graduated from Pocatello High School and from Idaho State College at Pocatello with a teaching degree. She taught one memorable year in Buckskin, Idaho, in a one-room school. During the 1940's she worked for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's booking office on Film Row in Salt Lake City. In 1949 she became medical secretary to Dr. Martin Lindem in the Boston Building on Main Street. Upon his retirement she worked for Drs. Lamb, Morrow and Martin. In August 1973, she took charge of library and institution sales for Sam Weller's Books and continued working there until November 1993.She was an ardent supporter of the Utah Symphony, Lamb's Cafe, the Utah Jazz team, and the bookstore. She died November 19, 1994.
