Biographical Note

Robert V. Hansberger was a businessman and civic leader. He was born in Worthington, Minnesota, attended Worthington Junior College, University of Minnesota, and Harvard Business School. He was hired as the Boise Payette Lumber Company President in 1957. Boise Payette, Cascade Lumber Company, and Valsetz Lumber Company merged to become Boise Cascade Corporation. He remained in Boise after his retirement in 1972 but ran Futura Corporation during his retirement. Hansberger was appointed to three Presidential Commissions: the President's Commission on Urban Housing, the President's Commission on the White House Fellows Program, and the President's Commission on Population Growth and the American Future. He was also appointed by various Idaho governors to numerous Idaho State Commissions. He served on many boards, served as the director for many arts and humanities related institutions, and remained active in Boise.
