Biographical Note

British born, Charles Macmunn (sometimes spelled as McMunn, MacMunn, and McMann) was a professional photographer working in Victoria, B.C. between 1883 and 1903. He specialized in landscape views and was listed as a photographer for the Canadian Pacific Railway in an 1887 directory. He photographed the construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway during the 1880s. His work was sold as "Macmunn's Views of Canadian Pacific Railway, Victoria and Surroundings" as early as 1883. He died at age 63 and was survived by his wife, Margaret who died at age 77 on June 4, 1912. The couple is buried in the Ross Bay Cemetery in Victoria, B.C.
