Historical Note
The CWU Theatre Arts Department, was founded by Dr. Milo Smith, who directed the department for 34 years (1956-1989). He produced 55 shows, including Broadway musicals and operas, and initiated the first children's theatre tour at CWU. As project manager and designer, he directed the 1980 construction of the department's black box theatre, which was officially named in his honor the Milo Smith Tower Theatre on Nov, 13, 2003.

Note: A significant portion of this collection contains materials from The Laughing Horse Theatre, a professional repertory group of actors and theater professionals from around the region. The group performed four plays a every summer at the Milo Smith Tower Theatre on the Central Washington University campus since 1980.
