Biographical Note
Myrtle House was one of many Americans who sought the expansive countryside and newly established national parks of the American West in the late 19th and early 20th centuries – an adventure made much easier with the development of the Transcontinental Railroad system. Traveling by train, horseback, stagecoach and steamers, House describes her journey through the remote countryside of Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, Oregon, and Washington.
