Biographical Note
Mary Campbell Emory, nee Mary Lelia Campbell, was born in Portland, Oregon, in 1892. In 1914, she and Thomas Lane Emory were married; they later had three children. She died in 1984.

Content Description
This oral history interview with Mary C. Emory was conducted by Roberta Watts in Portland, Oregon on January 6, 1978, as part of the Oregon Historical Society Research Library's oral history program.
In this interview, Emory discusses her early life in the Goose Hollow neighborhood of Portland, including people and families who lived there; businesses in the area, particularly theaters; and the Chinese American population in Portland. She also shares her memories of New Year's Eve, 1899. She talks about her marriage to Thomas Lane Emory. She discusses her love of theater, and talks about Portland actors.
