Biographical Note

Political activist and author.

Benjamin Franklin Manring was born in 1866. He was elected as Whitman County clerk in 1914, and he was active in the Washington State Historical Society. Manring authored the book "The Conquest of the Coeur d'Alenes, Spokanes and Palouses: The Expeditions of E.J. Steptoe and George Wright Against the 'Northern Indians' in 1858," published in 1912. He died in 1946.
