Historical Note

The Irrigation Experiment Station was authorized by the state legislature in 1917, and opened at Prosser, WA on May 24, 1919. In 1965 the name was changed to the Irrigated Agriculture Research and Extension Center (IAREC).

Arrangement

This is an unprocessed collection. Any arrangement reflects either a pre-existing order from the records' creators or previous custodians, or preliminary sorting performed by staff.

Most boxes are filed by subject matter, but some contain loose files and bound collections that are not organized. Boxes 1-3 contain reports related to various projects and their progress, specifically the Columbia Basin Project and W-43. Boxes 4, 6, and 10 contain financial records related to the Bursar's Office. Box 5 contains photos related to the experiment station. Boxes 7-10 contain reports related to pests and other insects present at the experiement station. Boxes 12 and 13 address the Earworm Project. Cash records and budget books also present with the boxes.
