Historical Note

William Henry Harrison (1896-1990) was active in Wyoming Republican politics, serving in both the Indiana and the Wyoming State legislatures. After serving in World War I, Harrison attended the University of Nebraska, was admitted to the Indiana Bar in 1925, and served in the Indiana legislature from 1927-1928. Admitted to the Wyoming Bar in 1937, Harrison practiced law in Sheridan. He served in the Wyoming House of Representatives from 1945 to 1950 before winning election to the U.S. House in 1950. Harrison served in the House from 1951-1955, 1961-1965 and 1967-1969, and he was also a regional administrator of the Housing and Home Finance Administration from 1955-1956.

Content Description

Collection contains the congressional files of Harrison, including correspondence, legislation introduced in the House by him, and documents from the committees on which he served. Also included are documents related to his press and media activity, including press releases, campaign ads, newsletters, and clippings. There are also congressional publications, books that Harrison collected, most related to American history and politics, home movies, photographs, and maps.
