Historical Note

Jeanne Tellier Leeson was born in 1913 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Herbert and Emma Tellier. She received a Bachelor's degree in food and nutrition from the University of Minnesota. By 1940, at the age of 26, she was living on her own in Helena, Montana and working as an advertiser for the Eddy Bakery Company. While living in Helena she met Del Leeson, who was working there as a newspaper editor. They were married in Silver Bow, Montana in 1942. After World War II, the couple moved to Salt Lake City, where Jeanne Leeson taught home economics at the University of Utah, and hosted a local radio show and children's television show. In 1961, Jeanne and Del Leeson moved to Beaverton, Oregon. Jeanne Leeson attended Pacific University in Forest Grove, graduating with a Master's degree in Education. She went on to teach English, reading, and writing at West Sylvan Middle School until her retirement in 1976.

Throughout her life, Jeanne Leeson worked as a freelance writer, publishing pieces with the Oregonian, the Beaverton Valley Times, and the Oregon Journal. Jeanne Tellier Leeson died June 4, 2006 in Beaverton, Oregon.
