Biographical Note

John Collias was a painter, illustrator, and commercial artist. His art appeared in the Idaho Statesman, Boise Weekly, Life Magazine and the Allen Noble Boise State Athletic Hall of Fame. He did portraiture, landscape art, military posters, and advertisements. He is best known for producing the portraits for "A Portrait of a Distinguished Citizen" every week in the Idaho Statesman from 1963 to 1993. Collias also worked at Boise State University as an instructor and artist in residence. He designed the Athletic Department logo which was used during the 1980s and 1990s.
