Content Description
The box contains seven folders comprised of papers/documents related to: published articles, conference and news talks, research paper and reports, experiments and state projects, state water quality committee, Water Resources Research Institute, and a folder of miscellaneous papers comprised of various studies, reports, and articles. Along with these folders, there are 5 individual booklets: three are related to research done created or co-authored by Glenn while at UI, one is papers bring presented at a conference in 1992, and one being a personal recounting of time spent serving in the Army during World War II and what it was like being stationed in various locations and countries.
Historical Note
Glenn C. Lewis was born July 13th, 1920, in Oakley, Idaho and was the youngest of seven children. He graduated from Shelley High School in 1938 and then began to attend the University of Idaho. He married Hope Brown in 1942 and had three children together but later separated. He was drafted into the Army for World War II in in summer of 1942 and served in North Africa, Corsia, and southern France. After his time in the Army, he returned to the University of Idaho and finished his bachelor's and obtained a master's degree. He later became employed by the University in the Agricultural Chemistry department. He remarried in 1956 to Norma Stone and they had three children, they were married for 52 years. He finished his doctorate at Purdue in 1961 and retired from teaching at University of Idaho in 1985: after 38 years. He passed away April 19th, 2009, at his home in Moscow, ID surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife, Norma, and his children: Wallace, Rand, Camille, Reed, Ann, and Amy; as well as ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. -Taken from his obituary in Moscow-Pullman Daily News.
