Historical Note

Robert "Bob" Bussel, Ph.D, has been director of the Labor Education and Research Center at the University of Oregon since 2002.

Bussel is also a professor of history at the University of Oregon, where he teaches courses on social movements, labor and the working class, immigration, and the history of sports. He got his masters' degree in labor education from Rutgers University and his Ph.D. in history from Cornell University. He has many publications including From Harvard to the Ranks of Labor: Powers Hapgood and the American working Class that was publichsed in 1999.

Content Description

The Robert Bussel papers relate to union organizing; writings, including articles, essays, and speeches; materials related to academic courses taught at the University of Oregon; materials regarding the American Folklife Center's grant to interview home care workers; and records relating to the Immigration Network for Immigrants in Lane County, the Pacific Northwest History Labor Association, Labor Edcuation and Research Center (LERC), Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries (BOLI), and Burnside Accord. Included in this collection are several files related to the inverview processes for the Immigration Network and interviews of the home care workers.
