Historical Note
Gerald L. Phillippe graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1933 and joined General Electric Corporation. In 1935 he became a travelling auditor for the company and later a statistician in 1942. Phillippe continued to advance, eventually becoming Comptroller in 1953. He served as a member and chairman of the board of directors until his death in 1968. Phillippe was a member of the Urban Coalition and a well-known speaker on the revitalization of the cities and the fight against poverty.
