Historical Note

John A. Finch emigrated to the United States from England with his parents in 1862. He came to Spokane Falls in 1887 and joined with Amasa B. Campbell in the firm of Finch & Campbell, which concentrated in mining investments. In 1906 Finch formed his own firm, Finch Investment Company. Upon his death in 1915, 40% of his estate continued to be administered by the company for “civic betterment and charity.” Finch believed that “a man who made his money in an area should show his appreciation by leaving it some legacy.”
