Historical Note
Thomas F. Hess was a professor emeritus at the University of Idaho Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering. During his pursuit if higher education, he studied music history at Colorado College in 1974, and did post graduate work in ethnomusicology the the University of Texas one year later. In 1979, Hess' interested seemingly changed to civil engineering. Hess completed his engineering education at the University of Colorado (CU). Here he received a doctorate in environmental engineering in 1990. Hess additionally had ten years of consulting engineering experience in the western U.S. Hess' research expertise was in the field of bioremediation. In particular, he researched the use of combined chemical and biological processes to transform and detoxify organic, hazardous wastes. Hess also taught at Rutgers University, the Colorado School of Mines, University of Colorado at Boulder, and Washington State University.
Content Description
Thomas F. Hess was a professor emeritus at the University of Idaho Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering. The materials in this collection include Hess' own course work while attending the University of Colorado in the late 1970s to early 1980s. It also contains research materials about wastewater supply and sanitation, and other research relating to biological and agricultural engineering. Additionally, there are some teaching materials from his time teaching at the University of Idaho and Washington State University.
