Historical Note
Beatrice Noel Markley Crofts (1920-2011) was a Wyoming resident and local historian. Her grandfather, John Roberts, was an Episcopalian missionary on the Wind River Indian Reservation. Crofts researched and published a biography of John Roberts, “Walk Softly, This Is God’s Country,” (1997).
Content Description
The collection contains photocopies from many sources concerning the life of John Roberts. Included are personal and family records, church records, newspaper and other printed materials, correspondence, school records, and government records regarding John Roberts and his work with the Shoshone and Arapaho people on the Wind River Reservation.
