Historical NoteReturn to Top
Reverend Canon Donald D. Fraser was born in Toledo, Ohio and raised in the Bay Area. He graduated St. Mary's High School in Berkeley and served in the United States Air Force from 1963 to 1967. During this time he participated in two tours of duty in Vietnam. Canon Fraser entered St. Patrick's Seminary, Menlo Park, and was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Boise, Idaho in 1974. Since 1997, he had served as Pastor of Our Lady of the Lake parish in McCall, Idaho. As of 2012, Canon Fraser had retired from active ministry.
In 2012, Canon Fraser donated his massive collection on Mark Twain to the University of Idaho Special Collections and Archives. The university held an honoring ceremony on October 16, 2012 at the University of Idaho Boise campus. In addition to his speech, Lynn N. Baird, Dean of Library Services at the time, as well as Ruthie Nellis and Katherine G. Aiken spoke during the service. After the initial donation, Canon Fraser continued to donate items which grew the collection to it's current size.
