Content Description

The Bill Weir slide collection consists of 2 boxes containing 2,204 color slides with handwritten or typed identifications by the creator and donor, Bill Weir. The images were taken in Utah between 1986 and 1992 to illustrate Utah Handbook, a comprehensive travel guide first published in 1989 and updated in multiple editions into the 2000s. The slides were organized by periods of time, often as close to three month spans as possible. The organization goes from oldest to newest, with the four 1979 slides and the 603 March-September 1986 photos being first, followed by later dates. Subjects include: festivals; landscapes and national parks; hiking and camping trails; lakes and rivers; flowers, trees, and native plants; Latter-Day Saint temples; historic sites; and outdoor recreation.

This collection contains creator-supplied language that may be outdated or derogatory to viewers. The processor retained the original description of the materials to preserve the historical context of the materials' creation.
