Biographical Note

William Studebaker was a published author, poet, and teacher. He was born in Salmon, Idaho in 1947, and spent 30 years teaching English and coordinating the outdoors program at the College of Southern Idaho. He worked as a correspondent and feature writer for the Times-News and as a feature writer for Idaho Magazine. He taught literature classes for Idaho State University and recieved the Idaho Humanities Council's Outstanding Humanist Award in 2005. His books include, Short of a Good Promise, and River Religion. An avid kayaker, Studebaker died in a kayaking accident in 2008 when he was 61.
