Biographical Note
John "Johnny" Palka is a University of Washington professor of zoology who joined the faculty in 1969. Palka received his B.A. from Swarthmore in 1960 and his PhD from UCLA in 1965. He was director of the Biology Program at UW 1992-1997, and founding co-director of the Program on the Environment 1997-2002. The recipient of several awards and honors throughout his distinguished career, Palka became professor emeritus at UW after retiring from teaching in 2002.
