Historical Note
The Graduate Studies Program at Central Washington University was established in 1947 when the Washington State Legislature authorized Central Washington College of Education to offer a Master of Education degree. In 1963, the Legislature granted the University the right to offer Master of Arts and Master of Science degrees. More graduate programs were added from the 1970s to the present. Currently, the University offers over thirty different graduate degrees.

The collection consists of studies and reports subsidized by state and federal grants to the Graduate Studies Program at Central Washington University from 1985 to 2007.
Historical Background
Central Washington University began as the Washington State Normal School in 1891. In 1937, the school was rechristened the Central Washington College of Education. In 1961, the school became Central Washington State College and, finally, in 1977, Central Washington University.
