Ray Atkeson was a Portland-based photographer, noted for his landscape photographs of the Pacific Northwest. His work appeared in national publications and he garnered awards such as Oregon State Photographer Laureate and the Oregon Governor's Art Award. Atkeson produced several photography books covering Washington, Oregon and California

Materials in this collection were originally part of the Library's Northwest Photograph Collection. These photographs were removed in 2018 to create a separate collection.
