Historical Note
Auril Theodora Baker Wood (1904-1996) was a schoolteacher for the Chico and Oakland, California school districts for thirty-five years. She also taught at public schools in Contra Costa and Siskiyou, California. During her final thirteen years as a teacher, Wood transitioned to special education. To her community, Wood was known for her active participation and volunteer work with the local United Methodist Church, nursing homes in the area, and the regional genealogical society. Beginning in 1973, she worked as a columnist for the Ridge Gazette until it ceased publication in 1984. She also published various articles, short stories, children’s stories, and poems.
Content Description
Collection contains a typewritten biography of Oscar Bloomfield Harvey by Wood; and research materials including photographs, biographical information, and the marriage notice of Adelaide Hodgson and O. B. Harvey in Laramie City, Dakota Territory that Wood used as references.
