Historical Note

The University of Idaho Press published ten to twelve titles annually in history and regional studies, Native American studies, folklore, and western literature and literary criticism, nature and the natural sciences and rescource and policy studies. The Press also published the bi-annual Hemingway Review in conjunction with the Hemingway Society. The press had approximately 100 titles in print. It was established in 1972 and became full member of the Association of American University Presses in 1990. In 2000, there was a fire in the building it was housed in. And in 2004, it was liquidated after more than 30 years of operation. At the time a university representative said it was unsustainable.The Argonaut wrote: "According to the university web site, it is the largest press in Idaho."
