Historical Note

Microbiology, originally taught as Bacteriology as a part of the Department of Botany and Zoology, was first taught at the Washington Agricultural College and Experiement Stations in Science in 1895. After a shift in management, bacteriology separated from the Department of Botany and Zoology and would eventually morph in to the Department of Microbiology in 1985.

Administrative Information

Arrangement

This is an unprocessed collection. Any arrangement reflects either a pre-existing order from the records' creators or previous custodians, or preliminary sorting performed by staff.

Box 1 contains pamphlets and handbooks related to the department and on genetics and cell biology. Also includes memoranda and administrative reports. Box 2 includes a few different copies of a departmental history detailing faculty, the establishment of the department, and the research done from 1895-1995. Also includes various personnel files.

This material was transferred to WSU Libraries' MASC by Dorothy Larson and Herbert Nakata on August 02, 2008 and retained as UA2008-10.
