Historical Note

The Montana Native Plant Society was founded in 1987 by Peter Lesica, Virginia Vincent and Kathy Ahlenslager. Members include amateurs and professionals who share a common interest in Montana's unique flora.

Content Description

This collection consists of a small portion of the Montana Native Plant Society's records, including meeting minutes, membership information, and newsletters. The newsletter collection is complete from 1987 to 2021. A summer 2007 issue was not printed.

Administrative Information

Arrangement

Collection has been arranged alphabetically, then chronologically.

Location of Originals

Originals of the minutes and by-laws, as well as other materials documenting the organization, remain with the Montana Native Plant Society.

Acquisition Information

Peter Lesica loaned MNPS meeting minutes and other records to the Archives for photocopying in 2004. Members of the MNPS donated past issues of newsletters. Newsletters and field trip programs are donated regularly. Cathie Jean donated three electronic files containing membership information in 2010.

Processing Note

The electronic files were integrated into the original arrangement in 2017. The electronic files were renamed by the processing archivist to better reflect the contents of the files.

Future Additions

Additional materials will be added to the collection on a regular basis.
