Summary
The University of Utah College of Law was founded in 1912. Samuel D. Thurman served as dean from 1962 -1975. He also served as president of the American Association of Law Schools. This collection contains the professional papers of Thurman as well as administrative records of the College of Law at the University of Utah. The professional papers relate to Thurman's participation in professional organizations such as the American Association of Law Schools, the American Bar Association, the Order of the Coif, Foundation Press, the Utah State Bar Association, and the Hinckley Institute of Politics at the University of Utah. Also included are faculty meeting minutes (1947-1975), the texts of lectures given as part of the William H. Leary lecture series, scrapbooks of the Law Wives Club, and related materials.

Content Description

This collection contains the professional papers of Samuel D. Thurman as well as administrative records of the College of Law. the professional papers relate to his participation in professional organizations such as the American Associations of Law Schools, the American Bar Association, the Order of the Coif, Foundation Press, the Utah State Bar Association, and the Hinckley Institute of Politics at the University. Also included are administrative correspondence and memoranda from the office of the dean, as well as college faculty meeting minutes(1947-1975). The collection also includes texts of the annual William H. Leary Lecture given at the College of Law (1960-1968). Additional materials include scrapbooks of the Law Wives Club (1954-1972) and class examinations (1956-1964).
