Biographical Note
Helen Campbell was the only child of mining magnate Amasa B. Campbell and his wife, Grace. Helen Campbell attended school at Brunot Hall, a private girls school in Spokane, and studied in Paris. She married William W. Powell in 1917. Upon her mother’s death in 1924, Mrs. Powell donated the Cutter-designed Campbell home to the Eastern Washington State Historical Society for use as a museum.
Content Description
The diary contains regular daily entries for the period 1913-1917. Her comments are often brief, but they reflect the daily activities of a young socialite in Spokane during the period just prior to and including World War I.
