Historical NoteReturn to Top
International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Iron Shipbuilders, Blacksmiths, Forgers, and Helpers of America, Local 104 is a labor organization representing workers in the states of Washington and Alaska. It was formed from a merger of Blacksmiths’ Lodge No. 106 and Boilermakers’ Lodge No 104 in 1953. In 1958, Local Lodges No. 541 (Welders) and Local Lodge No 104 (Boilermakers) merged to form a new Local 104. Boilermakers Local No 104 had its origins as a local union organized in 1892 in Seattle. During the period of the records in this collection, workers worked in shipyards, boiler and tank manufacturing, and as welders and metal fabricators.
