Biographical Note
Professor of English and comparative literature, University of Washington; and author (1926- ). A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Adams moved to Seattle when he was eight, following his father's appointment to The Lakeside School as headmaster. Hazard Adams received his undergraduate degree from Princeton University and his graduate degrees from the University of Washington in 1949 and 1953 respectively. He became a recognized scholar on the works of William Blake and W. B. Yeats. Adams joined the faculty of the University of Washington in 1977 and became the Lockwood Professor of Humanities.
