Content Description

The Ernest A. Meyer papers date from 1921 to 2009 and contain the archival materials of Dr. Meyer, Professor Emeritus and former faculty member of the Microbiology and Immunology Department. This collection consists of Meyer's own research notebooks and those of his students, societal correspondence, a family newsletter and other personal ephemera, and audiovisual recordings pertaining to his work focused on bacteriology, particularly giardia and its effects on community water resources. This collection provides insight into Dr. Meyer's extensive research and teaching of microbiology, immunology, and bacteriology. Not only do these items include detailed experimental notes conducted during his time as an instructor, dating back to the 1960s, but also his own research while he was a student. These notebooks serve as a foundation for the research he conducted within the United States and abroad that manifested into published reports, books, and news reports, some of which are represented within this collection as well.
